Many Christians long for a daily quiet time with God, but real life often gets in the way. Work, notifications, and constant scrolling make it hard to sit down, open the Bible, and truly be present before the Lord.
Even when we do open Scripture, it is easy to skim a few verses and move on, without really slowing down to listen.
This blog, “Quiet Time with ScriptureSide,” exists to help you build a simple, repeatable 15-minute quiet time workflow that you can actually stick to.
It is not about perfection, but about creating a gentle rhythm of silence and Scripture in the middle of a busy life.
1. Why 15 minutes?
Fifteen minutes is short enough to feel realistic, but long enough to walk through a full mini-journey of read – reflect – respond – pray.
Instead of setting an overwhelming goal like “one hour of Bible study every day,” you can start with something you can truly maintain: a focused 15 minutes with God.
As you grow more comfortable with this rhythm, you can always extend or adapt it. Think of this workflow as a starting path, not a final rule.
2. Simple preparation before you begin
Before you start your 15 minutes, a little preparation makes a big difference:
Find a relatively quiet place where you will not be constantly interrupted
Silence as many notifications as possible
Have your Bible ready (physical or digital)
Keep a simple journal or note-taking tool nearby
For the passage, you do not need something long. You can start with:
A short psalm (for example, Psalm 23 or Psalm 121)
A brief scene from the Gospels
A short paragraph from an epistle that forms a complete thought
The goal is not “reading more,” but letting God’s Word go deeper.
3. A 15-minute quiet time workflow (5 × 3 minutes)
Here is a simple 15-minute structure you can follow and later adjust.
Minutes 1–3: Settle and pray
Take a few slow, deep breaths and let your mind arrive in the present moment
Pray a simple opening prayer, such as:
“Lord, I give You these next 15 minutes. Please speak to me through Your Word and quiet my heart in Your presence.”
The aim here is to shift from a hurried mindset into an attentive posture before God.
Minutes 4–7: Slowly read the passage
Read the passage once, slowly
If time allows, read it a second time, paying attention to:
Words or phrases that are repeated
A verse or line that seems to stand out or makes you pause
Do not rush to analyze everything yet. Let the text simply sit with you.
Minutes 8–11: Ask questions and reflect
Now begin a gentle “conversation” with the passage. You can ask:
What does this passage show me about who God is?
How do people in this text respond to God? With fear, trust, repentance, gratitude?
If I had to summarize the core message of this passage in one sentence, what would it be?
In my current situation, where does this passage most challenge, correct, or comfort me?
Write down one or two of these questions and then jot down brief answers in your own words.
Minutes 12–15: Respond, apply, and pray
Use the final minutes to respond:
Write one or two sentences:
“Today, the truth I want to hold onto is…”
“Today, one small step I want to take is…”
Turn this into a short closing prayer:
Thank God for what He has shown you
Ask Him to help you live out that one small step today or this week
This completes one simple, focused 15-minute quiet time.
4. Using ScriptureSide to support this workflow
If you like to do your quiet time on a computer or phone, ScriptureSide can give you a focused space to walk through this same 15-minute process without getting lost in distractions.

5. A small invitation for today
You do not need to become a “spiritual giant” overnight.
You can simply choose to give God a focused 15 minutes today, in the middle of your real, imperfect, noisy life.
Here is a simple way to begin:
Turn off your notifications and find a quiet spot
Choose a short passage (for example, Psalm 23)
Open ScriptureSide or your Bible, and walk through the 15-minute steps above
Write down one truth and one small step you sense God inviting you to take
If you’d like, you can share in the comments:
“During your first 15-minute quiet time, which verse spoke to you the most, and why?”
May the Lord meet you in the silence and use His Word to steady your heart, one quiet moment at a time.
